HappyThanksgivingXmasNewYear!

It would be much quicker if I could just say that phrase and I would be caught up on my life here on the blog, wouldn’t it?

I don’t know about you all, but I can’t read minds so I am back with a recap of The Bright Side Holidays 2010! This will probably be a long one so bear with me…

I suppose I should start with the Philadelphia Half Marathon!

On November 21, 2010 I ran 13.1 miles; it was the farthest and longest I  had ever run. It was hard, it was fun and I am SO GLAD I did it! I ran it with my running buddy Chrissey. We finished in just over 2hrs23min. It was an interesting race because for the first 5 miles I felt awesome! It was when the small and then big hills appeared that things got tough. We walked a bit when we needed and I crossed that finish line with a big smile on my face! If asked whether I will do another 1/2 marathon—yes I would like to! I am going to focus on training for Broad Street in May as well as the MS Bike ride this summer. I will most likely run a few 5ks here and there but overall my hope is to become  more well-rounded in terms of exercise and health. I plan to incorporate strength training and yoga into my life in 2011 in addition to running! Here are a few photos my family snapped of the big race! I can’t thank them enough for being so supportive; standing in the cold, yelling at the top of their lungs-it means more than they know.

After the half marathon I felt pretty good! I was sore for about a day but was able to run a 5k Turkey Trot with my sister Karleigh Thanksgiving Day. She hasn’t run since high school and this was her first 5k. Her goal was to finish in under 36 min and she beat that by more than 3 minutes! We finished in under 33 minutes. It was the perfect way to kick off a day full of family, fun and food!

My Birthday was the day after Thanksgiving and it was pretty low key! B and I went to dinner at Bar Ferdinand in Northern Liberties the next night. It’s  a tapas style restaurant which means we shared a bunch of small plates. It was a “cool” atmosphere and the food was great. Amada is next up on my list! I have a crush on Jose Garces and Amada is one of his tapas places.

Are ya’ still with me?? Well if you are, I am going to keep sailing right along. Next up-San Diego! I took a lot of pictures so I will be doing a separate post that I will get up soon. Just know I spent five days wine tasting, sightseeing, relaxing and hanging out with my parents.

After I got back from San Diego the days cruised by and before I knew it, Christmas was here! I love spending time with family and this year was no exception. Santa came too and he brought me some fun stuff!

Phew! I know this might seem like a rambling rushed post but although I love sharing with you guys (see I did learn something in kindergarten!) this blog is also a way for me to look back years from now and see what I did!

Before I run I’ll leave you with a picture of the girls from NYE 2010/2011. B and I spent it with a group of friends and had a blast. I love that Dick Clark is on in the background-love him!

I am very excited and hopeful for what the new year holds for me. I hope you will all check back often and see what’s going on at The Bright Side.
