Camelbak Charm

Standard

This past Sunday I got to use my new Camelbak for the very first time.

I had been wanting one for a long time and decided with both the bike ride and half marathon training taking over the next 4 months I needed something to make sure I stayed hydrated at all times.

After doing some research online I decided on the Camelbak-Charm style.  It seemed to be the style most people recommended for running if you don’t like a lot of weight on your back (this one only weighs 3.5 pounds filled). Plus it holds enough water for a 1.5 hour bike ride. After filling it up and throwing it on my back I was ready to go!

My sister and I set out on a 3.3 mile run into town at noon – and it was close to 90 degrees outside. I will be honest, we definitely walked some, mostly because we are both trying to get our running fitness back. We did run up almost all the hills though-and there were quite a few!

The camelbak was perfect for this run. It helped that I was able to take small sips of water throughout the whole run, as opposed to gulping a water at a water station or water fountain. I think that alone helped me keep my energy up in such hot conditions. I don’t like the feeling of water sloshing around in my stomach, and it give me cramps.

My sister and I would get really excited every time we saw this:

SHADE! The road we ran on was very pretty which made the run a bit easier. I get discouraged sometimes running on the same trail all the time.  A change of scenery was nice.

I had finished almost my whole Camelbak by the time we made it to town and I had only one other thing on my mind.

Iced coffee – actually that’s a lie. This is a non-fat SF Iced Vanilla Latte. A fun Sunday treat after such a HOT run.

All in all I am VERY happy with my Camelbak Charm. It fits perfectly, didn’t bounce as I ran (which was a big concern for me) and didn’t rub. My only complaint is that I wish the extra pocket it has to store things like keys, camera, etc. was a little bit bigger. Other than that I am one happy girl!

Q- If you have a Camelbak, do you wear it year-round?
